Italy at the Bangalow Film Festival 2026

Three films in the program with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney

The Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney confirms its collaboration with the Bangalow Film Festival 2026 by supporting the screening of three Italian films: Trifole/Truffles (2024) by Gabriele Fabbro, Lupi Nostri/Our wolves – In a Landscape of Fear and Love (2025) by Samer Angelone, and The Opera! – Arie per un’eclissi (2024) by Davide Livermore and Paolo Gep Cucco.

A selection that goes beyond comedy and drama to explore hybrid formats that combine documentary, local narratives, and reimagining of traditional classics.

The film “The Opera!” will be screened on 21st June at 4:00 pm on occasion of the 32nd edition of the Festa della Musica, a major international event that every summer solstice since 1985, the European Year of Music, celebrates music in its many forms, making it accessible everywhere. The theme chosen for the 2026 edition is “The Voice of Places” which will be dedicated to Choirs and the unique beauty of our Country.

  • “Trifole”: Sunday 14 June 2026, at 7:15 pm
  • “Lupi Nostri”: Saturday 20 June 2026, at 3:00 pm
  • “The Opera!”: Sunday 21 June 2026, at 4:00 pm

Festa della Musica

The 2026 edition of the Festa della Musica is organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with l’Associazione Italiana per la Festa della Musica – AIPFM, SIAE, the Representation of the European Commission in Italy, the Department of Youth Policies, RAI TV and the diplomatic-consular network and Italian Cultural Institutes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bangalow Film Festival

The Bangalow Film Festival is a regional event celebrating cinema and storytelling in all its forms taking place in the quaint town of Bangalow in the NSW Northern Rivers region. Featuring a curated program of Australian and international film premieres, live performances, industry talks, and meetings with special guests, the festival brings audiences together in Bangalow to discover critically acclaimed films and fresh creative voices. Launched in 2011, BFF goes beyond the scope of traditional film festivals to serve as a regional cultural hub, positively involving local filmmakers and creatives through artistic commissions and collaborations, whilst developing the next generations of filmmakers through partnerships with the NSW Department of Education, Screenworks and SAE.
