The Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to support the 6th edition of the Studio Italia Italian Film Festival NZ. Curated by Artistic Director Paolo Rotondo, the Festival will screen a large number (20) of movies representing the latest Italian production. Location will be Dunedin, Napier, Arrowtown, Nelson, Masterton, Palmerston North, Taupo, Matakana, The Bridgeway Auckland, Monterey Takapuna, Christchurch, Wellington, New Plymouth, The Capitol, Silky Otter, Tauranga, Havelock North, Whakatane, Waiheke Island.
The programme will combine the best in contemporary Italian cinema with some masterpieces from Italy’s rich cinematic tradition. Among others, it will include two classic masterpieces specifically presented by IIC, Il gattopardo (The Leopard) (1963), directed by Luchino Visconti, and La ciociara (Two Women) (1960), directed by Vittorio De Sica. By offering the largest selection of Italian films in New Zealand, Studio Italia Italian Film Festival NZ wants to acknowledge the strong cultural relationship between Italy and New Zealand.
