Fellini Retrospective: Satyricon

Celebration for the 100th anniversary of Federico Fellini’s birth

The fifth movie presented within the Fellini Retrospective organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Randwick Ritz Cinema on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great master of Italian cinema is Satyricon (1969).

The retrospective, organised by the Ritz Cinema, immediately found the enthusiastic participation of the IIC who has engaged the expertise of Christian Pazzaglia to open the series and introduce six of the eight titles listed in the program. The public will be invited to interact with Pazzaglia at the end of the screening through Q&A sessions.

satyriconSatyricon (1969)

Cast: Martin Potter, Hiram Keller, Max Born, Salvo Randone

Plot: The movie is loosely based on Petronius’s work Satyricon, written during the reign of Emperor Nero and set in imperial Rome. The film is divided into nine episodes, following Encolpius and his friend Ascyltus as they try to win the heart of a young boy named Gitón within a surreal and dream-like Roman landscape.
