Fellini Retrospective: The White Sheik (Lo sceicco bianco)

Celebration for the 100th anniversary of Federico Fellini’s birth

The first movie presented within the Fellini Retrospective organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Randwick Ritz Cinema on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great master of Italian cinema is The White Sheik (Lo sceicco bianco) (1952).

The retrospective, organised by the Ritz Cinema, immediately found the enthusiastic participation of the IIC who has engaged the expertise of Christian Pazzaglia to open the series and introduce six of the eight titles listed in the program. The public will be invited to interact with Pazzaglia at the end of the screening through Q&A sessions.

Cast: Alberto Sordi, Leopoldo Trieste, Giulietta Masina, Brunella Bovo

Plot: Ivan and Wanda visit Rome for their honeymoon. However, Wanda suddenly disappears to find the White Sheik, the hero of a soap opera, and Ivan struggles to hide it from his family.
The movie obtained a nomination at the 1952 Venice Festival.
