Australian Tour of the Mosa-Nakagawa Duo

Duo Mosa Nagakawa

After the two-year break due to the pandemic, the programming of the Suono italiano concert series resumes in Sydney with its usual format — emerging artists, but with already a solid international experience, perform for the first time for Australian public.

The Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the Italian National Music Committee of Rome (CIDIM), is pleased to present a concert by the Italian cellist Emanuela Mosa and the Japanese pianist Mayaka Nakagawa, who will perform music by Johannes Brahms, Francesco Cilea and Gian Francesco Malipiero.

The performance is part of a mini Australian tour organized by the Institute, which will see the two musicians perform on August 10 in Canberra, at the Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centre and the following day, August 11, at the Institute’s premises on York Street.

Emanuela Mosa, born in Caltanissetta in 1998 an artist’s daughter, studied at the “Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatory of her hometown obtaining in 2017 a Level 1 Academic Diploma in piano with the vote of 110 cum laude under the guidance by Prof. Giuseppe Fagone, and in 2019 a Level 2 Academic Diploma in cello with 110 cum laude and honorable mention under the guidance of Prof. Vadim Pavlov. She attended various Masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians and in 2018 won a cello scholarship for the “Professione Orchestra” project established by the Rai National Symphony Orchestra. In the continuation of her studies she was selected by Maestro David Geringas for two consecutive years, 2020 and 2021, for the historic High Specialization Courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. She has also been teaching cello at the Caltanissetta Conservatory since the academic year 2020/21.

Mayaka Nakagawa was born in the Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1993 and graduated with honors from the Tokyo University of Music through a special scholarship for gifted students. She then completed her Master in piano as a specially invited student. In 2014 she received a scholarship from the Yamaha Foundation for Music Promotion, and in 2017 from the Sadao Yamada Foundation established by the Daido Corporation. She is currently studying with M.o Leonid Margarius at the International Academy of Music in Imola. Since very early on in her career, she has been the recipient of several national and international awards and already has numerous concerts to her credit both in Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Nagano, Osaka, Kawasaki, Kobe) and in Europe (Warsaw, Krakow).
