Co.As.It. and the Australian School of Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, are pleased to present a concert by the youth choirs Giovani Voci Bassano & Gioventù in Cantata Marostica, for this occasion in a single choir. After their participation in the International Choir Festival in Bali, the choir will tour Australia, with performances in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The repertoire of the concert to be held at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre in Leichhardt on August 2, 2023 will include Italian and international songs as part of their show Panta Rei.
The Australian tour is the result of a twenty-year collaboration with the Australian Girls Choir, and one of the purposes of the tour is to develop even further this cultural exchange by meeting the Italian communities of Australia.
Gioventù in Cantata Marostica and Giovani Voci Bassano are two youth choirs founded 50 and 30 years ago respectively in the cities of Marostica and Bassano del Grappa (Italy). They include young singers aged 8 to 25, led with overwhelming energy by conductor Cinzia Zanon. The main aim of the choirs is the promotion and the development of educational, social, artistic and cultural values. The two choirs are constantly exploring new repertoires and new forms of artistic expression, and thanks to the high quality of their performances they have won several prizes and awards at national and international festivals and competitions.
They have performed countless concerts in various Italian cities, developed and proposed original shows, and participated in the staging of important operas, including national premières. Both choirs offer a vast repertoire ranging from the most classical genres to contemporary music. Over the years they have toured all over the world: Spain, France, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Finland, Russia, Estonia, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Australia, Switzerland, the Philippines, Mongolia and China.
