We are delighted to present Maestri: Influences from Italy to Australia, an exhibition celebrating the profound legacy of Antonio Dattilo-Rubbo, Italian artist, visionary mentor, and key figure in the development of Australian modernism.
Drawing on works from Manly Art Gallery and Museum’s collection, the National Art School, and private lenders, the exhibition traces Dattilo-Rubbo’s artistic journey from Naples to Sydney, highlighting his enduring influence through a rich tapestry of artworks by his mentors, peers, and students.
Maestri explores themes of teaching, mentorship, and artistic lineage, offering a compelling reflection on the cross-cultural connections that have shaped generations of Australian artists.
This exhibition is a collaboration between MAG&M, the Italian Cultural Institute Sydney, and the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney.
The Exhibition will be officially opened by Gianluca Rubagotti, Consul General of Italy in Sydney.
