JUKEBOX ITALIANO: Ileana Pipitone, Carlotta Centanni & Mocambo Jam

Three amazing acts join forces to transport you back to the golden era of Italian music and to Italy’s most celebrated singer-songwriters of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Expect to be totally captivated by the gorgeous voices of Ileana Pipitone and Carlotta Centanni, who will perform world-famous songs such as Mambo Italiano and Volare as well as Neapolitan and Roman classics such as Roma nu fà la stupida stasera and O sole mio. The second part of the show will feature Mocambo Jam, a band already well known to Camelot’s audiences, performing a selection of songs by legendary Italian singer-songwriters Paolo Conte, Lucio Battisti, Fabrizio de André and others.

 

The winner of the Italian-Australian of the Year Award Promoted by Comites NSW will also be announced during the evening.

 

Ileana Pipitone is a versatile and accomplished singer, actress, and musical theatre performer with over 20 years of experience. Originally from Trieste, she has performed on prestigious stages worldwide, including Italy, Australia, the USA, South America, Africa, and Asia, collaborating with top industry professionals. Ileana trained at the Professional Academy BSMT in Bologna, Italy, and furthered her studies at NIDA and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her impressive range of roles includes the Witch in Into the Woods, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel. Her career spans standout productions like Titanic (Alice Bean), Freckleface Strawberry (Strawberry), Songs for a New World (Amy), and Pippin (Leading Player).

Carlotta Centanni is an accomplished singer, songwriter and recording artist from Rome. She is the granddaughter of Armandino Zingone, a celebrated singer who shared the stage with the legendary Renato Carosone. Carlotta’s professional debut in 2001 marked the beginning of her becoming a popular fixture on the Rome music scene at prestigious venues such as La Palma Jazz Club. In 2008 Carlotta migrated to Australia, and since then has brought her authentic Italian sound to some of Australia’s most iconic music venues, such as Foundry616, the Basement, the Vanguard, Sydney Opera House, Intercontinental Hotel, Sheraton on the Park, Cardea and many others. She has composed and recorded 4 studio albums available online worldwide.

Mocambo Jam is a group of Sydney-based Italian musicians. They re-interpret timeless classics of some of Italy’s most recognised singer-songwriters, amongst them Paolo Conte, Fabrizio De Andrè, Lucio Battisti and Francesco De Gregori. Mocambo Jam have been active since 2015, when they played their first public gig at Foundry616 and have since then performed several times at Camelot Lounge and regularly at Italian festivals, always receiving enthusiastic responses from the public.
