Antenna Documentary Film Festival returns for the seventh edition this October, screening the very best in non-fiction films from Australia and around the world, the Antenna DocTalk series, retrospective program and international guests. Screening the very best documentaries from across the globe, the Festival offers a program that is both intelligent and diverse, as well as challenging conceptions and conventions of the world around us.
The Antenna Documentary Film Festival presents this year two documentaries with an Italian focus:
Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back
Thursday, 12 October, at 1.00 pm @ Museum of Contemporary Art
In Maura Axelrod’s playful documentary, we meet one of the most successful and controversial Italian artists of our time, Maurizio Cattelan. The film documents Maurizio from his early days in poverty to his recent career-capping retrospective at the Guggenheim, with many twists along the way.
Spettacolo
Friday, 14 October, at 7.00 pm @ Palace Norton Street
Once upon a time, villagers in a tiny town in Tuscany came up with a remarkable way to confront their issues – they turned their lives into a play. Every summer, their piazza becomes a stage and residents play themselves facing their own struggles. Spettacolo tells a heartwarming tale of a town in which life and theatre overlap, dramatising what could be the end of an era and celebrating the power of art to heal, unite and transform.
