100th anniversary of Gianni Rodàri
Presentation of six video stories taken from Gianni Rodàri’s works
Thanks to the collaboration with the Ponte tra Culture Association of Ancona, directed by the actor, director and playwright Gianluca Barbadori, the Institute is able to offer members, students, friends and lovers of Italian culture the very latest “digital gem” for 2020: one of the most recent productions of the Association, i.e. a series of six video-stories read/interpreted by the actors Galatea Ranzi and Giuseppe Cederna.
The collaboration was recently established with the production of four video-stories produced by the Institute and interpreted by students of the Brickworks Drama School in Auckland under the direction of Barbadori, with the collaboration of Natascha Diaz and Lauren Jackson, who direct the New Zealand school. The works paid homage to three great Italian authors: Italo Calvino, Dino Buzzati and Gianni Rodàri. The six video-stories in question are instead a tribute entirely dedicated to Gianni Rodàri, whose birth centenary is celebrated in 2020.
Gianni Rodari’s books have been translated into many languages and have won several awards, including, in 1970, the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen prize, considered the Nobel Prize in children’s literature. From the notes collected in the 60’s and 70’s in a series of school meetings with teachers, librarians, parents and students, in 1973 he published the Grammatica della fantasia (Grammar of Phantasy), which soon became a reference point for those involved in literacy education and children’s literature.
Galatea Ranzi reads Il sole e la luna, L’Apollonia della marmellata and Storia universale, whereas Giuseppe Cederna reads Brif Bruf Braf, Il paese con la S davanti and Il paese senza punta. The stories, like almost all the production of the author from Piedmont, are mainly aimed at young children, but they are also undoubtedly enjoyable for an adult audience, and this thanks to Rodàri’s ability to present his readers an accurate view of the world, while at the same time describing feelings that everyone can identify with.
