The Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney, is pleased to host a conversation with Luca Zuliani, Professor of Italian Linguistics at the University of Padua, exploring the evolution of the Italian language in both popular and classic songs. Through well-known and lesser-known examples, Professor Zuliani will examine how songs have influenced the use of Italian, through stylistic choices, poetic license, and linguistic innovation. A journey through words and music to discover how sung language reflects a changing Italy.

His main fields of interest are Italian philology, the relationship between music and poetry, Italian metrics, the history of the Italian language and the stylistic analysis of 20th-century Italian poetry.
