Arianna was a hit at Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Queer Lion, and its star Ondina Quadri took the ‘Best Actress in a Debut Film’ and ‘Best Italian Discovery’ awards.
Arianna is 19 years old, but is still not fully developed for her age. At the beginning of summer, in the farm on the Bolsena lake where she had lived until the age of three and where she returns with her parents, she recollects old memories which convince her to remain alone. Arianna starts to investigate her body and her past: the meeting with her cousin Celeste – so feminine and different from her – and the loss of her virginity with a boy of her age encourage her to finally confront her true nature. But it is with herself and her relationship with her family, issues that have remained unresolved since her childhood that Arianna needs to discover herself.
Together with Me, myself & her, which is screened on the 21st of February, Arianna is one of the two Italian movies to be selected for the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
