Mardi Gras Film Festival: Me, Myself & Her

Marina and Federica have a stable relationship and have been living together for five years. Marina is a former actress and a successful entrepreneur who has always been aware of her homosexuality, but for reasons connected to her business has been waiting for some time to come out. Federica is an architect, has been married, has a son, now an adult, and after the divorce has fallen in love with Marina, her first homosexual relationship. However, she doesn’t consider herself a lesbian and doesn’t want her cohabitation with a woman to become of public domain. When Federica comes across someone from her past, the relationship between the two women starts to deteriorate and all their fragility comes to the surface.

Following the example of the urban comedy from overseas and trying to strike a balance between artistry and commercial appeal, My, Myself & Her reveals the daily life of a homosexual couple without giving in to stereotypes (with the possible exception of the Filipino servant), exploring the complexity of a relationship between two people who love each other but at the same time do not wish to relinquish their own individuality.

The film has received acclaim at queer and Italian film festivals internationally. It is award-winning director Maria Sole Tognazzi’s seventh film.

Together with Arianna, which is screened on the 27th of February, Me, Myself & Her is one of the two Italian movies to be selected for the Mardi Gras Film Festival.
