Massimo Scattolin was born in Treviso and started his guitar studies with Giorgio Baragella. After a few meetings with Andres Segovia he attended a specialization course with Alirio Diaz, who described Massimo Scattolin’s performance skills as “… exquisite instrumental and musical art…“. After having started his performance career as a soloist very early in life, Massimo devoted himself to chamber music. Subsequently he specialized in the performance of the most important concerts for guitar and orchestra and great composers such as Violet Archer and Astor Piazzolla have dedicated works to him. He is jury member of prestigious national and international competitions, teaches specialization courses both in Italy and abroad, and is the first Italian guitarist appointed principal guitar teacher in the Master course offered at the Salzburg “Mozarteum”. He has recorded CDs as soloist, with orchestras and chamber orchestras, with violinists Giuliano Carmignola and Franco Mezzena, flute player Roberto Fabbriciani, the Quartetto Amati, pianist Massimiliano Damerini, percussionist Tullio De Piscopo, cello players Julius Berger and Arturo Bonucci, guitarist Tolo Marton and celebrated Cuban ensemble Grupo Compay Segundo-Buena Vista Social Club. He has established the Paganini Consort and Guitarland ensembles.
