Vivacissimo 2017. Yearly music program of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney
The Italian Cultural Institute is proud to introduce the second concert of the Vivacissimo 2017 series with guitarist Gianfranco Summa, who will perform music by Villa-Lobos, Albeniz, Koshkin, Ponce and Giuliani.
Born in Potenza on 10 April 1988, Gianfranco Summa started studying classical and modern guitar at 12 years of age with Bartolo Telesca. Subsequently he studied guitar at the “Gesualdo da Venosa“ Conservatory in Potenza under the guidanced of Fabio Fasano. He graduated with Anello Desiderio. His other teachers included Saverio Sangregorio, Davide Remigio, Stefano Cucci and Dario Orabona. He attended masterclasses with Carlo Marchione and Leo Brouwer. He has taught guitar at the Emiolia music association in Potenza.
Gianfranco performs regularly as a soloist and is the organizer of the “Ricerche di Stile” concert series, which features performances by the best up and coming guitarists. In 2015 he was the artistic director of the International Guitar Festival of Picerno (near Potenza), which saw the participation of international artists from The Netherlands, Japan, Italy and Brazil. In 2015 he also toured South America (Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina), performing in several concert halls and universities. In 2016 he moved to Sydney, where he will remain until July 2017, when he will continue his concert activities in Mexico.
