Sul filo degli affetti: Il sogno di Arianna. Lanci and Piantelli’s duo

lanci piantelli modificata

A musical and poetic journey into the emotional universe of Arianna, the mythical figure who stands as the ultimate symbol of the abandoned woman in the Baroque repertoire. The program explores the many shades of human emotion — from despair to forgiveness — through some of the most refined and moving musical works from the 17th and early 18th centuries, in a dialogue between Italian and French traditions.

At the heart of the concert is Monteverdi’s famous Lamento d’Arianna, a masterpiece that inaugurated the Baroque “lament” genre. Alongside it, rare and intense cantatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and Joseph Haydn offer new interpretations of Ariadne’s character, navigating through anger, sorrow, and redemption. The program also includes instrumental works by Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre and Giovanni Bon, while paying tribute to three great female Baroque composers: Barbara Strozzi, Antonia Bembo, and Jacquet de La Guerre herself.

A concert that gives voice to the depth of the feminine soul, through a musical narrative rich in pathos, subtlety, and expressive power.

Arianna Lanci, mezzo-soprano and vocal researcher, graduated with honours in Philosophy from the University of Bologna and in Classical Singing from the “G. Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro. Winner of several international awards, she has performed as a soloist in major festivals and theatres across Italy, Europe, India, Israel, and the United States. A leading interpreter of Baroque and contemporary repertoire, she is the creator of the recording project Sul filo degli affetti, dedicated to the female voice in myth and music.

Maurizio Piantelli, a specialist in 16th- and 17th-century performance practice, plays archlute, theorbo, and Baroque guitar. He regularly collaborates as a continuo player and soloist with major international ensembles and Baroque opera productions. Founder of the ensemble Laus Concentus, he performs at leading early music festivals throughout Europe
