Three Italian movies at the Sydney Film Festival 2021

nowherespecial1In 2021 the Sydney Film Festival, Australia’s leading international film festival, reaches its 68th edition, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney is pleased to announce its renewed collaboration with one of the most important cinematic events in Australia and in the world.

The Festival will take place from 3 to 21 November 2021, and the Institute is particularly pleased to announce the inclusion in the program of Paolo Sorrentino’s latest masterpiece È stata la mano di Dio (The hand of God), the story of a boy in the tumultuous Naples of the 1980s, an autobiographical portrait of the director in his early years before the so called Seventh Art pushed him to move to Rome.

The other two Italian entries are A Black Jesus by Luca Lucchesi, a journey to discover the source of fear and prejudice against “others” in a small village in southern Italy, and Nowhere Special by Uberto Pasolini, inspired by a real event. It is the story of a man who, facing the tragedy that struck him, has the sole purpose of giving his three-year-old son a future as peaceful as possible.
