Piano recital with Duo Paola Biondi – Debora Brunialti

Vivacissimo Suono Italiano Sydney. Yearly Music Program of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Sydney

The Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney continues with its series of concerts called Vivacissimo Suono Italian Sydney, a cycle made possible by the collaboration with CIDIM – Italian National Music Committee, an organization founded in 1978 with the aim of contributing to the development and promotion of Italian classical and contemporary music abroad.

The fourth concert of the series features a four hands piano recital with Duo Paola Biondi – Debora Brunialti, who will present a program of music by Sollima, Gershwin, Bollani, Canonici and Mozart/Buttal.

b b 3Paola and Debora study and graduate with Lidia Arcuri at the N. Paganini Conservatorium of Genoa; they later perfected themselves with Alfons Kontarsky at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Dario de Rosa and Maureen Jones at the Fiesole School of Music and Katia Labeque at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. After their debut at the Sydney Conservatorium and in the historic Rachmaninoff Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatorium, they started their career that took them all over the world and led them to play for the most important national and international festivals and associations.

They work closely with various contemporary composers, who have dedicated several works to them: Hugues Dufourt, Azio Corghi, Francesco Antonioni and Michele dall’Ongaro; in the jazz field they have performed works by Stefano Bollani, Uri Caine and Giorgio Gaslini. They collaborate with the Naqqara Ensemble of Maurizio Ben Omar and the Mascoulisse quartet. Paola and Debora love working in theatre. Together with Bustric (Sergio Bini) they realize several shows such as “Nuvolo e Musica”, “Varieté degli animali”, “Il Magico piccolo Principe” and “Pinocchio”. With Guido Barbieri they create the show “Ottanta”, which made its debut in the Gog 2017/18 season. They have regularly performed for Rai (Radio 3 Suite, I concerti al Quirinale).

They recorded for Dynamic compositions from the 20th century obtaining favourable reviews on most prestigious music magazines, while for Amadeus they recorded the concerto for two pianos and orchestra by F. Poulenc. In 2016 they published the CD “Between Earth and Heaven” with Continuo Records with music by Aurelio Canonici, and in June 2017 they released with Suonare News (in collaboration with CIDIM) their latest CD with music by Mozart/Grieg, Debussy, Ravel and Gershwin.

Paola and Debora transform music into vital energy, and their aim is transmitting waves of harmony and union. Overcoming barriers of time and place, they turn to the communicative power of music to promote balance and positivity. They have an intense artistic activity and participate in humanitarian initiatives, in particular with their three AAA, Amore Allegria Armonia project.
