Stai lontana da me (Stay away from me)

A Glimpse on Today’s Italy

Given the success of the movie cycles presented in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, the Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to present in 2018 a new cycle, A Glimpse on Today’s Italy, which will include movies produced in the last years which wish to illustrate in a rather hironic manner some of the most pressing issues of contemporary Italy.

stai lontana da me 2Stai lontana da me (Stay away from me), directed by Alessio Maria Federici, 2013 (100’)

Jacopo Leone is an outstanding marriage counsellor. He is able to solve problems of all kinds. In spite of everything, his love life is a disaster. Since he was a child, he brought bad luck to all the women he entered into a relationship with. One day, Jacopo meets Sara, a charming architect whom he falls madly in love with. She reciprocates his love, but she is wary of the bad luck that befalls all his girlfriends. At the end she decides to leave the relationship. Jacopo leaves Italy and relocates to Greece, where he meets Simona, the girl who cursed him many years before. She removes the curse and thanks to this, Jacopo can finally go back to Italy to his beloved Sara.
