Vivacissimo Suono Italiano Sydney. Yearly Music Program of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Sydney

The Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney continues with its series of concerts called Vivacissimo Suono Italiano Sydney, a cycle made possible by the collaboration with CIDIM - Italian National Music Committee, an organization founded in 1978 with the aim of contributing to the development and promotion of Italian classical and contemporary music abroad.

The fifth and last concert for 2018 features a concert by duo Ylenia Cimino (flute) and Pasquale Vitale (guitar), who will present a programme of music by Marcello, Rossini, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Monti, Carulli e Molino.

il flauto di ylenia cimino in auditorium 628x353Ylenia Cimino was born in 1997 in Polla, near Salerno. She started studying the flute at the age of 10, under the guidance of her father Antonio. At the age of 16, she graduated with high distinction and special mention at the Potenza Conservatory “C.G. da Venosa”. In 2016 she completed her Linguistic High School studies with high distinction and in 2017, at the age of 19, she obtained a “Diploma in Higher music studies” at the “L.Perosi” Academy in Biella, in Davide Formisano’s class, again with high distinction. She has won several First Prizes in national and international music competitions, including the “I International Flute Competition Severino Gazzelloni” and the “Flute Competition Giuseppe Gariboldi”. She attended courses and master classes with Salvatore Lombardi, Maxence Larrieu, Peter-Lukas Graf, Jean-Claude Gérard, Andrea Manco, Paolo Taballione, Bruno Grossi, Michele Marasco, Kazutaka Shimizu, Enzo Caroli, Francesco Loi, János Bálint, Davide Formisano, Silvia Careddu, Christina Fassbender, Youssi Arnheim. She has given concerts, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, in prestigious concert halls with renowned orchestras and soloists. She has also had several contemporary music pieces dedicated to her, which she then went on to perform. In 2011 she was awarded the “Youth Knighthood Award” (Premio Cavalierato Giovanile) by the City of Salerno. In the same year she also won the “Severino Gazzelloni” scholarship. Authoritative flute magazine «Falaut» dedicated to her the cover of the 2012 October-December issue, and she performed within the renowned “Severino Gazzelloni Flute Festival” in 2012 and 2015. She had the privilege of representing Italy at the “European Soloists Festival”, which was held in Caracas in 2013, where she played as a soloist with the Simon Bolivar Symphoy Orchestra de Venezuela, directed by Cesar Ivan Lara. She has performed with pianist Ettore Strangio on Italian television, winning the “Conservatori a confronto” competition, obtaining the highest TV vote of the entire series. She is the only winner of the three-year scholarship for talents under 17 at the “Lorenzo Perosi” Academy in Biella, in Davide Formisano’s class. She performed as a soloist at the Falaut Campus 2014 and 2015, and in 2014 she recorded the “Falaut Campus 2014”, a live recorded double CD, with the most important names of the flute world. In December of the same year, she performed with a string trio as a member of the “Solitalian Quartet” in the “Vallo di Diano Flute Festival”, along some of the most important international artists. In 2016 the musical magazine «Suonare News» dedicated to her an interview, in the column “La Meglio Gioventù”. She is Principal flute in the O.G.N and in the “Orchestra Sannium Mozart”. At the “Pescara Falaut Festival 2016” she performed in a recital with pianist Raffaele Maisano. That year’s festival featured some among the most celebrated contemporary soloists, including and the mythical figure of Sir James Galway. On December 2016, she was awarded the "De Dianense Virtute”, an important recognition that the city of Teggiano (SA) bestows upon her citizens who have excelled in the fields of Culture, Science, Art, Literature and Sport. In October 2017, she performed as soloist with La Verdi Orchestra of Milan, at the Auditorium Cariplo Foundation of the same city. She is currently studying with Salvatore Lombardi, a central figure in her artistic and professional training, and Davide Formisano. Since 2017 she has been attending the Master of Flute at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende kunst in Stuttgart, in Davide Formisano’s class. She is flute professor at the Academic Courses in the Conservatory of Music “G.Martucci” in Salerno.

Pasquale Vitale was born in 1997. He started his guitar studies at the age of 12 under the guidance of Marco Caiazza. In 2014 he foto vitalejoined the Frèdèric Zigante masterclass, and since 2016 he has been studying at the Conservatory of Music in Alessandria. He made his debut, as young talent, at the prestigious "Convegno Michele Pittaluga" in 2015, event in which he took part also in 2017 to pay homage to Reginald Smith-Brindle. He has played at several festivals, including international Festival Andres Segovia (Madrid), Classic Young Masters Festival (Rotterdam), Fiuggi International Guitar Festival, Festival international Andres Segovia (Pescara) and many others. Since 2013 he has participated in several competitions, where he won over 20 First Prizes, including the Anna Amalia international guitar competition for young guitarists (Weimar), the International Guitar Competition "City of Fiuggi", the Roburent International Guitar competition, and the Mottola International Guitar competition for young guitarists. He attended masterclasses with international artists such as Manuel Barrueco, Carlo Marchione, Adriano Del Sal, Marcin Dylla and Aniello Desiderio.
