Lorenzo Santangelo interprets Italian singer-songwriters

The Istituto Italiano di cultura is pleased to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a musical evening featuring Roman singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Santangelo and musician and well-known radio journalist Marco Lucchi. Lorenzo and Marco, who will be joined by young Italian singer Ileana Pipitone, will present a program of songs by well and lesser known Italian singer-songwriters such as Fabrizio De André, Francesco De Gregori, Lucio Dalla, Giorgio Gaber, Vasco Rossi etc. Lorenzo will also interpret some of the original songs he has composed.

lorenzo santangeloLorenzo Santangelo is a singer-songwriter who moved to Sydney in 2013. Born in Rome in 1987, he has released an EP (Canzoni in fuga, 2015) and an album (L’ultimo album d’esordio, 2016). He began studying piano at the age of four and at twelve he entered the Conservatorium of of Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2018 he was among the 3 winners of the prestigious Premio Lunezia with his song “Respiro”, which will be published as a single in February 2019.

Marco Lucchi, also from Rome, is a guitarist who has lived in Australia for more than twenty marco lucchiyears. Known to the Italian community as one of the historical voices of Radio SBS, he started playing guitar at the age of 14, and has been playing at professional level for several years. His passion for music has led him to perform until today in various Sydney clubs with other Italian and Australian artists.

Born in 1993, Ileana Pipitone is an Italian singer and musical performer who recently relocated to Australia. She started her training in contemporary singing in 2005, in acting in 2008 and, in the same year, she started her studies in opera singing at the Conservatorium G. Tartini in Trieste. In 2015 she graduated at the BSMT Musical Theatre Academy in Bologna, where she has also worked as a Vocal Coach until she moved to Australia. After her graduation in Italy she has taken part in over 10 musicals, and since her arrival in Sydney she has performed in several local productions, such as Songs For A New World and Company. In March she will be Mary Magdalene in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
