Poetry on stage: La Compagnia delle Poete

a seminar by Alice Loda and Valentina Gosetti

In this seminar we will speak about poetry on stage, and provide an overview on La Compagnia delle Poete, a collective project by translingual women poets based in Italy and having the Italian language has a common poetic trajectory. La Compagnia delle Poete, which was founded by the franco-Italian poet and scholar Mia Lecomte in 2008, has authored several plays which are based on multilingual poetry practices and intermingling of genres and perspectives: theatre and poetry, written and oral word, individual and collective voice. This project, which holds a strong focus on the creative opportunities within the contexts of migration, mobility and translingualsim, is known world-wide for its originality and unicity. During this seminar we will explore the project and the poetic activity of its members, look at some original videos and read a selection of texts. In the second part of the seminar, the audience will be invited to contribute to a collectives and multilingual translation of one text, which will be then sent to the Compagnia.
