Suono Italiano Sydney 2020 (online)

Despite the current COVID 19 emergency, the Italian Cultural Institute, thanks to its local and international collaborations, is striving to offer a cultural calendar which can be digitally accessed by all its members and friends.

After the recent launch of the Head On(line) International Photo Festival, another fruitful and consolidated collaboration has pierre rodegiven life to another exciting project, which has seen the light of day thanks to the Institute’s collaboration with CIDIM (Italian National Music Committee), an organization whose aim is to promote Italian music and musicians abroad.

The title of the new project is RODE and has been conceived by international renowned violinist Davide Alogna, who has asked to 23 other violinists to record one of the 24 Caprices op. 22 by French composer Pierre Rode.

The 24 violinists who participated in the project - promoted by CIDIM and Suonare News - are Davide Alogna, Emmanuele Baldini, Alessio Bidoli, Alberto Bologni, Daniela Cammarano, Gennaro Cardaropoli, Gabriele Ceci, Fabrizio Falasca, Marco Fiorini, Giuseppe Gibboni, Federico Guglielmo, Michelangelo Lentini, Enzo Ligresti, Fulvio Liviabella, Salvatore Lombardo, Francesco Manara, Luca Marzolla, Liù Pelliciari, Germana Porcu, Salvatore Quaranta, Luca Santaniello, Giacomo Scarponi, Anna Tifu, Edoardo Zosi. The four sections are available on the CIDIM’s YouTube channel at the following links:

Each video contains a presentation in Italian and English and the viewer can select each of the six Caprices contained in it or jump to a different section of the project.

The project, which has already been welcomed very favourably and has received more than 100,000 views in the first few days, has a multiple relevance. It was implemented to allow students of the Conservatoriums (closed because the health emergency) to study the works written by one of the “compulsory” composers in violin studies, Pierre Rode. Furthermore, but presenting this project the Italian Institute, apart from offering to its members and friends a significant example of excellence in Italian music making, wishes to give its contribution – also in financial terms – to the professional life of the musicians involved, especially in these very hard times for all performers.
