RecitaDante 2021 Competition

We are pleased to announce the names of the three winners of the RecitaDante 2021 competition:

Given the effort made by all the participants, the judging panel has decided to reward 8 other competitors with vouchers to be used at Italian restaurants and to reward many other students with some lovely gadgets.

700th Anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s Death

As part of the several initiatives organized to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney has decided to launch a competition reserved to students of Italian from universities located in NSW, ACT, Queensland and New Zealand and to the students of the Italian Cultural Institute.

For the RecitaDante 2021 competition the competitors will have to producebene 2 a short video in which they will recite one to three triplets (terzine) of their choice taken from the Divine Comedy. The student will also have to complete the sentence Mi piace Dante perché … and explain the reason for choosing that particular triplet. The videos will be sent to the teacher of their course, who will make a first selection and will subsequently send all the videos to the Institute.

The Institute will choose the winning videos and those to be included in a single video that will later be published on its social media to celebrate Dante’s anniversary.

The deadline to send the videos is the 4th of October 2021.

benigniThe three winning students will receive a voucher of $ 2,000, $ 1,500 and $ 1,000 (first, second and third prize) respectively, to be spent towards the purchase of a return flight to Italy. The winners will be announced during the 21st Week of Italian Language in the World, which will be held between 18 and 23 October 2021.
