The Bangalow Film Festival returns for the second edition, including in 2022 also Murwillumbah and Lismore, again with the support of the IIC which has always encouraged this interesting initiative in line with the desire to develop the promotion of Italian culture also in other locations in NSW.

The new edition will also be curated by Christian Pazzaglia who, together with two residents of the tourist resort near Byron Bay – Lyn McCarthy and Ben Alcock – worked to establish the Bangalow Film Festival LTD, the body that oversees the event.

From 13 to 29 January at the Showground and A&I Hall in Bangalow as well as in Lismore and Murwillumbah, an international cinema program will be developed, with a strong Italian presence that includes two national premieres: Picciridda (Alone with her dreams) by Paolo Licata and In prima linea (On the front line) by Matteo Balsamo and Francesco Del Grosso as well as the already well-known Chef Antonio’s recipes for revolution by Trevor Graham. The program also includes Little Tornadoes which sees among the protagonists the well-known anchorwoman Silvia Colloca. The same program is enriched this year by two round tables focused on the theme of sustainability which, among others, sees the participation of the researcher Alessandro Pelizzon.

Linguist, author and filmmaker, Helena Norberg-Hodge is the founder and director of the international non-profit organisation, Localpazzaglia ecc Futures, a pioneer of the new economy movement, and the convenor of World Localization Day. She is the author of several books, including Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh, an eye-opening tale of tradition and change in Ladakh, or “Little Tibet”. Together with a film of the same title, Ancient Futures has been translated into more than 40 languages, and sold half a million copies.

In addition to having published extensively in the area, he has organised numerous events in Australia on Wild Law and Earth Jurisprudence. He is one of the founding members of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and of the Australian Earth Laws Alliance, and he has been a moderator at the UN General Assembly Dialogue on the Harmony with Nature. Jean is a lecturer with the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Southern Cross University. He teaches in the area of social sciences, and researches how climate change affects community security, national security and international security.
