The Lucca Project Contest is a national competition open to aspiring comic book authors, organized by Lucca Comics & Games, and now in its 16th year. Every year, about 200 young authors submit their projects to a jury composed by comics professionals who will choose among them 15 finalists. Most of the previous Project Contest winners and finalists are now established professionals. Over the years, the Project Contest has established itself as alucca crea 2 privileged observation point on the state of the art of young Italian creativity, and therefore on the state of health of Italian comics in general.

In 2020 Lucca Crea has established a collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and thanks to this collaboration the exhibition will be circulated within the Italian diplomatic-consular network, which will in turn make it available to all universities and foreign institutions where Italian is taught who will request it.
