Sydney Film Festival 2022

Sydney Film Festival 2022

sff logoIn 2022 the Sydney Film Festival, Australia's leading international film festival, reaches its 69th edition. The Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney is pleased to announce its renewed collaboration with one of the most important cinematic events in Australia and in the world. A collaboration that has seen over the years the Institute to actively work both to ensure the inclusion of Italian films at the annual festival, and to make possible the participation of guests from Italy: directors, actresses and actors, cinema industry professionals, all with the aim of creating an international cooperation leading to possible film co-productions.

The 2022 edition of the Festival will see the participation of three Italian films. However, due to some uncertainty that remains due to Covid, unfortunately, Italian directors will not attend the event this year.

The films selected for the Festival, which will be held in various city cinemas, are:

Alcarras, a Spanish-Italian co-production by director Carla Simon that tells the story of a Catalan family dedicated for generations to the cultivation of quince apples, with a surprise ending.

Hide and Seek, a documentary by director Victoria Fiore (born in London to Italian parents), a UK-Italy co-production that tells thepiccolo corpo story of a 12-year-old boy in today's Naples.

Piccolo corpo (Small body) by director Laura Samani, winner of the David di Donatello award, is the heartbreaking story of a mother on her pilgrimage to a sanctuary located in a remote mountain place, to try to give life for a moment to her stillborn baby and baptize him, so that his soul won’t remain forever in Limbo.
