2022 marks the eighth consecutive year of fruitful collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute and the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, the cultural hub of Liverpool City Council.

A collaboration that is expressed with the organization of film series that have contemporary Italian production as their focus.

This year, the series is entitled Another Italy: Stories, relationships and emotions in Italian cinema at the beginning of the millennium with a clear reference to the now consolidated choice of proposing a series of feature films that can give a vision of our country at the dawn of second decade of this third millennium.

In a series of flashbacks, the story of Anna Michelucci, elected the most beautiful mother in a bathing establishment in the summer of 1971, and the difficult relationship with her son Bruno is told. The boy, convinced of the backbiting of his high school friends about his mother’s easy morals, had cut off all relations with the woman in adolescence. The opportunity to meet again arises years later, when the woman, in the terminal stage of cancer, is about to die.
