Trio Pacassoni Australian Tour

marco pacassoni 2The Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney is pleased to announce the Australian tour of percussionist Marco Pacassoni.

In the Italian and international jazz scene, Pacassoni is a name of absolute importance and Australian lovers of the genre have already enthusiastically commented on the news of the tour down under of the whimsical vibraphonist from the region Marche.

The tour, which the Italian Cultural Institute has encouraged and supported financially from the very beginning, includes dates throughout Australia:

12/09 - Masterclass at the Sydney Conservatorium

17/09 - Masterclass at the Australian National University - Canberra

Marco Pacassoni graduated from the "G. Rossini" Conservatory of Pesaro with honors and graduated in Professional Music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with honors. He mainly studied with Gary Burton, Ed Saindon, Victor Mendoza, Daniele Di Gregorio, Eguie Castrillo, John Ramsey, Steve Wilkes. In 2005 he won the prize for best Italian "jazz talent" at the Chicco Bettinardi competition in Piacenza. Pacassoni has collaborated with Michel Camilo, John Patitucci, Antonio Sanchez, Alex Acuna, Horacio "el negro" Hernandez, Steve Smith, John Beck, Amik Guerra, Trent Austin, Greg Hutchinson, Chihiro Yamanaka, Bungaro, Malika Ayane, Petra Magoni, Raphael Gualazzi , Luca Barbarossa, Francesco Cafiso, Massimo Manzi, Massimo Moriconi, Filippo Lattanzi, Daniele Di Gregorio, Paolo Belli, Luca Colombo, Cesare Chiodo. As leader he has released Finally (Groovemaster Edition 2011), Happiness (AlfaMusic 2014), Grazie (Nasswetter Music Group 2017), Frank & Ruth (Esordisco 2018) and Life (Egea Music April 2022). He teaches percussion instruments at the Liceo Musicale Marconi in Pesaro, the University of Texas in San Antonio (USA) and the University of Urbino. Pacassoni regularly holds Vibraphone Masterclasses in prestigious American colleges such asmarco pacassoni Oberlin Conservatory (Ohio), University of Minneapolis (Minnesota), Eastman School of Music (Rochester), Columbus University (Ohio), Cleveland University (Ohio), University of Texas San Antonio ( Texas) and Washington University St. Louis (Missouri). In April 2014 he published the manual of harmony and composition Quasi quasi scrivo una canzone… published by Rodavia Edizioni. He has been invited to the most prestigious Italian and International Festivals and Clubs such as Estival Jazz Lugano (Switzerland), Roccella Jonica Jazz Festival, Fano Jazz Festival, Locomotive Jazz Festival, Sant'Elpidio Jazz Festival, Festival International de la Musica di Gandia (Spain), Adams Percussion Festival (Holland), DrumWorld Festival (Holland), Amsterdam Marimba Festival (Holland), SummerJazz Festival Casa del Jazz in Rome, Blue Note in Milan, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Bimhuis Jazz in Amsterdam (Holland), Bravo Caffè of Bologna, EastShore Jazz Club (Beijing, China), La Plantation (Beijing, China), Salon 10 (Hong Kong, China), Peel Fresco (Hong Kong, China), Italian Cultural Institute of Beijing, Osaka (Japan) and Hong Kong and many others.

Pacassoni will perform in a trio with some local musicians:

Connor Perkins (bass) and Dom Machen (drum) at the Brisbane Jazz Club
Brendan Clarke (bass) and Nicholas McBride (drums) at the Camelot Lounge in Sydney
Eric Ajaye (bass) and Mark Sutton (drum) at Smith's Alternative in Canberra

Pacassoni will also hold two Masterclasses at the Sydney Conservatorium (12/09) and at the Australian National University in Canberra (17/09).
