Maria has a dog and a miserable life. She was fished out in the sea as a piece of garbage, and has grown up marked by a sexual abuse that has disfigured her face and deprived her belly of the ability to generate. Daughter of an alienated mother and right-hand man of a drug addict pimp, Maria ferries wretched souls to the Volturno, Nigerian prostitutes who rent out their uterus to survive and fatten up their miserable mistress. One day the escape of Fatima, who wants to keep her baby for herself, and the discovery of an unexpected pregnancy, shake Maria from her depths. Pregnant and on the run, after having found and freed Fatima, Maria becomes aware of having arrived at a crossroads and chooses the sea, her life.
