PASOLINI retrospective – Randwick Ritz Cinema

PASOLINI retrospective – Randwick Ritz Cinema

comizi damore2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Italian poet, film director, screenwriter, writer, actor and playwright. Pasolini was a multifaceted and versatile intellectual and distinguished himself in numerous fields - literature and cinema among those best known to the general public - also leaving contributions as a painter, linguist, translator and essayist.

As for the written production of the controversial artist, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society, organized on the 24th of August an evening entitled Petrolio - An unfinished testament, which was focused on the latest literary work by Pasolini, left unfinished in 1975 due to untimely his death and published in 1992.

We are now very pleased to give Pasolini his due recognition also for his cinematographic production. Thanks to the Fare Cinema programme of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, aimed at spreading Italian cinema abroad, and the collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna, with the Randwick Ritz cinema and Cinema Reborn, the Institute has been able to put together a retrospective that includes some of the most famous feature films directed by Pasolini.
