Prof. Fiorenzo Galli, General Director of the National Museum of Science and
Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan.
Leonardo da Vinci is a global cultural icon, symbol of curiosity and interdisciplinary knowledge. His capacity to observe nature and his working method constitute a precious heritage for contemporary society, inspiring researchers, scientists and innovators in defining new knowledge-building models. Professor Fiorenzo Galli, in a pleasant account of the transversality of Leonardo da Vinci’s thought, will demonstrate its freshness and its profound importance.
Fiorenzo Galli was born in Milan in 1955. He holds a degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Milan. Married, two children, an alpine officer, Galli has a past as a family business owner in the electromechanical sector. He has been Director of the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan since 2001.
Since 2007 he is Professor of Contemporary museology at the University of Milan and holds lectures, courses as well as masterclasses in many other Universities. Since 1983 Galli has occupied various positions in Confindustria and Assolombarda such as President of Young Industrialists and member of the Presidential Committee, the Board of Directors, the Board of Executive Committee and the Board of Arbitrators. He is member of several scientific and cultural committees such as the Kuratorium of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the National Committee for the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the Committee for the Development of Scientific and Technological Culture of MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione dell’Università e della Ricerca) and the Working Party “Expo Dubai 2020”. As a speaker at numerous international conferences, Galli has written over a hundred contributions and articles on scientific culture.
His book “Milano e le sue rotte obbligate – Appunti per una cittadinanza sostenibile” (Notes on Sustainable Citizenship) won the 1° Premio Nazionale per la Divulgazione
Scientifica (First National Award for Scientific Divulgation) in 2016.
