The Italian Cultural Institute is excited to present Out of Breath in TWO – a captivating contemporary dance event created and choreographed by professional dancer Ginevra Cicatello.
This unique performance offers an insightful exploration into the world of contemporary dance. Not only will Ginevra showcase her artistic talents but also provide a fascinating behind-the-scenes look into the creation of a choreography.
Through a live performance, the audience will witness the beauty and complexity of dance as Ginevra explains the inspirations, techniques, and processes behind her choreographic works. “Out of Breath in TWO” promises to be an immersive experience that celebrates the boundless creativity and physical expression of contemporary dance.
Ginevra’s act is an autobiographical story that relies on the constant presence of an alter ego to portray the intimate journey of a soul within conflict, connection and reconciliation. Across movement and dance, Ginevra will take us into this introspective journey and celebration of the power of the self.
Performing artists: Ginevra Cicatello and Tamara Bouman
Originally from Sicily, Ginevra Cicatello is an accredited dancer with a background in classical ballet and contemporary dance. After training with acclaimed institutions such as Megakles Ballet and Petranura Danza Company, in 2008, Ginevra further expanded her repertoire by studying Greek Drama and Modern Theatre.
Throughout her career, Ginevra had the privilege of performing in prestigious venues and festivals, including the Graeco-Roman Theatre in Catania, Greek Theatre in Syracuse, Scenario Pubblico, Festival d’Avignon in France, RomaEuropa Festival, and Finland Festival Theatre.
She recently moved to Australia, where she works as a freelance dancer and teacher, specializing in Progressing Ballet Technique & Progressing Contemporary Technique. In 2022, she was selected to participate in Modem Pro with the Zappala’ Dance Company. In 2023 she completed her Postgraduate Certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance and is currently pursuing a qualification in the Gyrotonic movement system.
Tamara Bouman was born in Sydney and started her dance training at the age of three with the Northern Beaches Dance Academy. In 2019 Tamara graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance). Tamara made her professional debut in Colossus with the Stephanie Lake Company (2018-2020) and has since performed and worked with various independent artists and companies in the realms of contemporary dance, contemporary circus, children’s educational dance performances and physical theatre.
