12 December 2024 – 24 January 2025
Italian Cultural Institute, Sydney

A joint collaboration between the Australian Watercolour Institute, the Museum of Paper and Watermark in Fabriano, Italy, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney will bring together works by Australian and Italian watercolour artists. The exhibition is curated by David van Nunen OAM, President of the Australian Watercolour Institute, and Giorgio Pellegrini, former Director of the Museum of Paper and Watermark in Fabriano, who will select 40 artworks by 10 Italian and 10 Australian artists.

The dialogue between Italian and Australian art has a long history and has been especially defined by the presence of Australian artists in both the jury and competition of the Biennial International Prize “Fabriano Watercolour”. For the first time now, to further develop this connection, Sydney will host a selection of works from each country as a demonstration of the exchange and mutual influence between the Italian and Australian watercolour tradition.
