Ars Nova Napoli folk Mediterranean music – Live in Sydney – Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Sydney

The Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney is pleased to present Ars Nova Napoli, one of the most recognised and celebrated bands on the Neapolitan Nu Folk scene, for their only Sydney performance.

Ars Nova Napoli reinterpret traditional songs from Southern Italy alongside original compositions, creating a distinctive musical experience that celebrates the rich diversity of Mediterranean melodies and musical traditions. Their sound combines powerful vocals, intricate harmonies and vibrant instrumental arrangements, blending folk influences with infectious rhythms and an energetic stage presence.

Featuring six talented musicians performing on vocals, accordion, mandolin, charango, violin, trumpet, frame drums, guitar and double bass, the ensemble transforms every performance into a celebration of music, culture and community. Through their contemporary approach to traditional music, Ars Nova Napoli preserve its enduring role as a way of bringing people together, transcending generations and cultural boundaries.

The Australian tour by Ars Nova Napoli is part of the broader Napoli Città Mondo programme. The project was selected by the Neapolis 2500 Committee, established to mark the 2,500th anniversary of the city’s foundation, and co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Bellingen Global Carnival.

Through music, Napoli Città Mondo promotes intercultural dialogue, fostering new relationships and opportunities for collaboration. The initiative contributes to these objectives by bringing Neapolitan musical traditions to international audiences and encouraging encounters and dialogue between different cultures.

Sydney audiences will have a unique opportunity to experience the group’s vibrant sound live at Curtains Jazz Club in Circular Quay
