This will be a special opportunity to meet the author, winner of the Campiello Prize in 2015, and discover Bambino in greater depth, engaging in a conversation with him about the novel, his writing, and the themes that run throughout his work.

Moderator: Bob Farotto

The event will be held in Italian, is free and open to everyone, including those who are not members of the Book Club.

Participation is possible both in person and online.

The Eventbrite registration and Zoom links will be available shortly.

Marco Balzano (Milan, 1978) is one of Italy’s most acclaimed contemporary writers. Winner of the Campiello Prize, he is the author of novels that have been translated into numerous languages.

In his works, “History” is never merely a backdrop, but becomes part of the everyday lives of ordinary people, showing how individual choices are intertwined with major collective events.

His writing is characterised by:

  • Clear and engaging language
  • Accessible yet never superficial storytelling
  • A strong focus on the human and psychological dimension
  • The ability to explore complex historical themes through unforgettable characters

Why read Balzano today? Because his novels show how identity, belonging, memory and conflicts from the past continue to shape our present.

Balzano often writes about ordinary people swept up by History, migration and displacement, identity and belonging, complex family relationships, borderlands, and the coexistence of different cultures.
