Cinema Reborn Film Festival is an annual event created by a community of film enthusiasts, programmers, directors, screen historians and critics. The focus of the festival is the conservation of the international film heritage and research into the long history of the Seventh Art, the worldwide film restoration activity and the treasures hidden in the film archives of the world.
For some years now, the Italian Cultural Institute has collaborated successfully with Cinema Reborn for the inclusion of Italian films in the program. Also for 2022 we are pleased to confirm the screening of a great masterpiece of Italian cinema: Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West.
Once Upon a Time in the West is a 1968 film, an epic Italian western produced by Paramount Pictures, one of those films that turned out to be a concentrate of the best in circulation in the film industry of the time. Starring Claudia Cardinale, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Charles Bronson, the screenplay for the film was written by Leone and Sergio Donati and based on a story by Leone himself together with Bernardo Bertolucci and Dario Argento. The director of photography was Tonino Delli Colli and the soundtrack was composed by Ennio Morricone. Once Upon a Time in the West was the first episode of Leone’s “Time Trilogy”, which continued with Giù la testa (1971) and Once upon a time in America (1984).
Cinema Reborn Film Festival is scheduled from 27 April to 3 May 2022 at Cinema Ritz, Randwick.
Once Upon a Time in the West, in its original version shot in English, will be screened on April 30 at 7.45 pm and will be introduced by director and film critic, Associate Prof. Jane Mills (School of the Arts and Media at the University of New South Wales).
