On the occasion of the 7th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to present a Degustation of Italian Extra-virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) on Thursday 17 November from 6.00pm.

The 7th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will take place between the 14th and the 20th of November 2022 with the theme “Conviviality, sustainability and innovation: the ingredients of Italian cuisine for people’s health and the protection of the planet”. This project is an initiative of MAECI (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) to promote Italian cuisine and its quality ingredients, wine excellences, the Mediterranean diet and scientific innovation in the field of agriculture, as well as contrasting the phenomenon of Italian sounding. In this edition, special importance is also given to the well-being and sustainability for people and the planet, the fight against food waste and innovation based on the centrality of the territory and products and on the traditional relationships and skills that make Italy’s craftsmanship an example for the world.

The degustation event will be hosted by Alice Massaria, expert oil taster and award-winning sommelier, who will guide us through the tasting of six different EVOO from six different Italian regions, explaining the origins, different characteristic, production method and myths, while highlighting the biodiversity that Italy has to offer.

In Italy, there are over 600 types of olives suitable for extra virgin olive oil making! Alice and her partner Enea have travelled throughalice massaria sito Italy in 2019-2020 in search of the best products and have personally selected niche producers who combine tradition and passion with modern techniques and innovation that allow them to enhance the territory with unique scents and flavours.

Alice and her partner Enea are the owner of Bottega 1900, a niche online shop that celebrates Italian biodiversity through products that are truly made by extremely high quality producers. They import each product directly from Italy, made from world-class producers that work consistently without compromising.

Delicious Italian food will be served through the evening.
