The Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Sydney is pleased to present a new event in the Eatalian Talks series, dedicated to Italian fashion, taking place on 12 May 2026 at 12:30 pm coinciding with the Australian Fashion Week 2026.
An event that combines a live conversation with an immersive digital experience, exploring the role of fashion as a tool for cultural expression and social impact.
During the session, participants will be able to embark on an immersive journey through the history of Italian fashion using virtual reality headsets: an interactive path across eras, styles and innovations that have made Made in Italy fashion a global benchmark.

The guest speaker will be Camilla Schippa, CEO of The Social Outfit from 2019 to 2025, an Australian organisation that combines fashion with social inclusion, where she now serves as Ambassador.
Camilla will share her journey from Europe to Australia to work in the fashion industry. With a strong focus on social impact, she highlights the value of Italian craftsmanship and Made in Italy in Australia, where fashion has been—and continues to be—a powerful tool for inclusion and empowerment, particularly for migrant women.
Italian influence represents a significant component in the history of Australian fashion: artisans and designers of Italian origin have built careers in Australia, bringing with them aesthetic values, craftsmanship skills, and a vision deeply rooted in Italy’s traditions.

Enhancing the event, one of The Social Outfit’s seamstresses, Xiuyan Han, Senior Sewing Technician at The Social Outfit, will create a garment on the spot using fabric and pins, offering a live demonstration of creativity and craftsmanship.
An event designed for those who love fashion, culture, and new technologies, and for anyone interested in discovering how tradition and modernity intertwine in the dialogue between Italy and Australia.
A light lunch, Peroni 0.0 alcohol-free beer, and beverages will be offered to all participants as part of the Eatalian Talks series.
