Within the “Spiders Alive & Deadly” exhibition
As part of the Spiders Alive & Deadly exhibition dedicated to spiders currently held at the Australian Museum, the museum will organize a whole series di events under the title Culture Up Late.
On the 1st of February 2017, among other initiatives, Italian dancer and dance teacher Rosa Didonna (who held a pizzica pizzica workshop at the Institute in September 2016) will present a workshop of folk dances from Southern Italy, in particular on the pizzica pizzica and tarantella styles, which are notoriously connected to the bite of the tarantula.
Rosa Didonna was born in Italy and has been living in Sydney since 2013. She is the leader of an Italian folk dance group based in Sydney called Armonie Salentine which has performed in Sydney at several Italian festivals and popular celebrations. She has worked with students of the Italian Bilingual School (IBS) in Meadowbank and has also collaborated with Co.As.It. and the Associazione Pugliese in Sydney.
