The Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney is pleased to support the Italian-Australian guitarist and composer Ermanno Brignolo, for the presentation of the recital entitled FROM GRACE, which will be held on Saturday 9 November at 7 pm at the Mosman Art Gallery, n.1 Art Gallery Way, Mosman.
The program includes the World premiere of “Impressions from Grace” a collection of compositions by Brignolo. Pieces by other composers, including J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Agustin Barrios Mangore, will complete the program.
The title of the project (also recorded) takes inspiration from the name of the neonatal intensive care unit for complex cases in the Westmead Children’s Hospital, “Grace”. The proceeds of the evening will be donated to Bear Cottage, an initiative by the aforementioned hospital.
After graduating from the Conservatorium of Novara, Ermanno Brignolo continued studying with Angelo Gilardino and Christian Saggese, while also attending several masterclasses with some of the most renowned figures of the international guitar scene. During his career, Brignolo has performed regularly in Europe, Asia and Australia, with particular focus on music from the twentieth and twenty-first century. Among others, he has played for prestigious organisations such as International Guitar Academy in Brescia, Claxica International guitar festival and competition, International Guitar Festival in Lagonegro, Sydney Classical Guitar Society, Classical Guitar society of Victoria. The most important titles in his discography, praised by both critics and colleagues, are: The Andrés Segovia Archive, 7CD-box distributed by Brilliant Classics; Platero y yo, with actress and singer Minie Minarelli, distributed by dotGuitar; Cahier des chansons anciennes n.2, distributed by dotGuitar, the World premiere recording of the 12 pieces cycle written by the Italian composer Alfredo Franco. An important part of the Brignolo’s musical activity is teaching. Since 2019 he has been appointed as guest professor at the advanced master degree at the conservatorium of Novara.
