In order to resume the commemorations for 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, widely celebrated around the world during 2021 and to which the Australian Catholic University has already dedicated two very successful events in 2022 and 2023, the Australian Catholic University, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney are pleased to renew their collaboration by presenting a new symposium dedicated to the work of the great Florentine poet.
The event will take place on the 22nd of March at the Peter Cosgrove Centre, Tenison Woods House, Lvl. 18, 8-20 Napier Street, North Sydney, between 1.30 and 5.00 pm.
The keynote address, entitled Fortune’s Fool. The influence of Dante in Italy and abroad, and held by Dr. Paolo Barlera, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, will be followed by the reading of some passages taken from the Vita Nova and the Divine Comedy, read in different languages in which the texts have been translated. The reading in Italian (and English) will be carried out by the Italian-Australian actor Nino Lo Giudice.
