ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2024

The Italian Trade Agency Sydney, in partnership with Vogue Living Australia and the Italian Cultural Institute, is proud to present the Italian Design Day 2024, an exclusive celebration of the artistry and forward-thinking ethos of Italian design.

This exclusive event will take place on Tuesday, 25 June at 6:00 PM at the Space Furniture Showroom in Alexandria.

Vogue Living Australia editor-in-Chief, Rebecca Caratti, will be joined by special guest architect Alessandro Colombo, ambassador of Italian Design to Australia, from Milan. Together, they will delve into the themes of innovation and sustainability in Italian design, sharing insights and the latest trends from the 2024 Salone del Mobile.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore exclusive pieces of furniture straight from Salone, set against the backdrop of the elegant Space Furniture Showroom. The evening will also mark the launch of the Booklet of Italian Design in Australia and New Zealand, a comprehensive guide to Italian design excellence within the country.

 

Rebecca Caratti is the editor-in-Chief of the prestigious design and lifestyle magazine Vogue Living, since 2018. The Vogue Living brand is unique to Australia and with its 50-year history, it has been the worldwide authority on the finer things in life, from interior design to art and culture. It is the country’s leading decorating and design magazine, dedicated to publishing the most beautiful, creative and individual interiors. Caratti joined News Corp Australia in 2015 as launch editor of lifestyle and culture brand Buro247.com.au. Prior to her current position, she has been the style editor at Vogue Australia and market editor for Harper’s Bazaar.

 

 

 

Born in Milan, Alessandro Colombo graduated in architecture at Politecnico of Milan in 1987, under Marco Zanuso, and in 1989 he began his partnership with Pierluigi Cerri at Gregotti Associati International. In 1991 he won with Paola Garbuglio the Mayor of Osaka City Prize with the project: “Terra: Instructions for Use”. In 1998/99 he was founding partner of Studio Cerri & Associati. In 2004 he was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for the Naòs System, Unifor office table system. He is a lecturer at the Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino, Polidesign, and Naba. He is a consultant for the Salone del Mobile and was appointed Ambassador of Italian design by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with Triennale and ADI, for the Italian Design Day held in 2017 in Vancouver, in 2018 in Jakarta, in 2019 and 2021 in Asunción and in 2020 and 2022 in Helsinki.
